Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT)

Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT) was created in 1976 to create standard and fair management of ad valorem and use taxes. The organization has a Strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct for its members. The Institute serves over 4400 members and represents about 1450 firms, corporations or taxpayers across the U.S. and Canada.

The Institute educates, certifies, and establishes strict code of conduct for tax professionals who represent tax payers.  Members represent a vast range of businesses and can range from small companies to Fortune 500 companies.  Certified Member of Institution (CMI) is the highest level of certification that a member may achieve and has three categories, Property Tax, Sales and Use Tax, and State and Local Income Tax.   IPT has 20 seminars a year held at various universities country wide and has an annual conference which offers networking and learning opportunities.  Members get access to member directory, continuing education and monthly publications.   IPT publishes textbooks Property Taxation, Sales and Use Taxation and Third Party Drop Shipment Survey.
